And We're Off........

It is almost one year to the day since we said "yes" to becoming full-time missionaries to El Ayudante in Honduras that we will be arriving back there to make it our new home for the next years to come. This past year has flown by and dragged all at the same time. We have seen God move in miraculous ways to make this transition happen. We have successfully sold all of our belongings. We were amazed at how quickly things sold and how excited some of the people were that bought our stuff after we told them why we were selling it. Our bedroom set was purchased by a couple that were coming off the mission field after serving in China for 30 years! We sat and chatted for 1/2 an hour about ministry. It was really cool! We have successfully raised our support. Many people told us it traditionally takes 18-24 months to raise the needed support. Because we knew God had us on a shorter time line, we believed He would provide more quickly than that and He did! We raised our support in just over 6 months. We have successfully buttoned up all our loose ends at home and now we are off!

We had a wonderful time with family in Michigan for two weeks in early October. It was great seeing everyone and getting to meet new nephews on both sides of the family that we had yet to meet. We caught up with friends and had a few speaking engagements where we made new friends that were also excited about what God is calling us to do.

Sunday, October 18th was our commissioning service. What a blessing to have our church family praying over us and supporting us with so much love. They sent us off with an awesome farewell lunch. It was hard saying goodbye to so many friends that have been with us on this entire journey but we know the miles will not hinder those friendships from continuing.

On October 21st we arrive in Honduras. On October 30th, we head off to Antigua, Guatemala for 4 months of intensive language preparation. Before you know it, we will be able to update our blog in Spanish! Thanks to everyone who has helped us get to this point and we hope you will continuing praying for us as we make the transition. We love you all!
