Family & Ministry......
It was great having my mom and niece here to visit us at El Ayudante a few weeks ago. We love what we are doing here in Honduras and know that we are called to be here, but it makes the experience that much more special when we can share what we do with family and friends who come to visit. This was a first visit for both Jean & Kristi and not only did we show them around......we put them to work!
Both Jean & Kristi volunteered at our local elementary school for story hour and craft time with the kindergartners. With a little time to spare, they got to enjoy recess too. It's not clear who enjoyed it the most.....the kids or the adults!
Jean spent a lot of time in the pharmacy counting pills. The literal HOURS she spent counting out pills was hours that she saved our busy pharmacist from having to do it. With our increase in patient load being 25% more again this year, the pharmacist is hopping busy and really appreciates the help.
Kristi spent one day assisting a dentist in the clinic on campus and one day assisting the dentist in our mobile clinic one hour up the mountain. While this was a new experience for Kristi, she thoroughly enjoyed learning and helping out and can now say she has witnessed a root canal up close and personal!
We also spent some time showing them a few of the tourist attractions. We visited the cute little town of Valle de Angeles, where they got to see lots of hand made items and eat authentic Honduran food.
We also took them to Comayagua during Semana Santa so they could experience the beauty of the sawdust carpets and eat more authentic food.
We rounded out their cultural experience with our last dinner being at TGIFridays the night before they flew out. I'm sure you can guess who requested THAT dinner spot. :)
Now that we have our new house, think about coming for a visit. We would love the company, we love sharing what we do here at EA and would be happy to put you to work!!
